History

Year opened: 1992

In 1992, former Assistant Superintendent for Special Services, Opal Hamilton, was honored by Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. with the naming of Hamilton Intermediate School, at Kluge and Grant Roads, for her exemplary service to the district.  Mrs. Hamilton served Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. for twenty-five years as a Vocational Adjustment Coordinator, Director of Special Education and Assistant Superintendent.

Hamilton Intermediate operated as a 6th grade campus for three years under the leadership of Sue McGown.  It was then renamed Opal Hamilton Junior High and transitioned into a 6th/7th grade campus during the 1995-1996 school year. The following school year completed the full transition to a 6th, 7th and 8th grade campus.  The school is now known as Hamilton Middle School.
